Harry and Tweet to Health Featured in the Steamboat Today!

Harry shared his story of grief which turned into inspiration this past Monday.  The Steamboat Today interviewed Harry about the circumstances leading him to found Tweet to Health.  In the recent weeks, he has been particularly touched by the media coverage of Representative Giffords and her recovery.  Serious illnesses and injuries touch all of us, from public servants to private citizens.  Tweet to Health exists precisely to help all families in their health journey.

Welcome! We're Tweet to Health

About Tweet to Health

Tweet to Health is an organization dedicated to helping families start tweeting about their loved ones’ stays at the hospital, medical procedures, health declines and health triumphs.  Harry Rubinstein, the organization’s founder, started tweeting himself after his wife suffered a severe stroke in August.  He went from barely knowing that Twitter existed, to being a prolific tweeter and desiring to help others leverage this useful tool for the duration of their loved one's health issue.

About Twitter
Twitter is a free social networking and microblogging service.  User’s messages, which can be public or private, are called tweets.  Family and friends do not have to sign up for an account to view the messages, but merely can visit a chronological site of tweets using a website address (which follow a naming convention of www.twitter.com/username, such as www.twitter.com/RockyRubinstein).
Signing up for a free Twitter account is as simple as 1-2-3:

2. Click on the yellow "Sign Up" button on the right side of the screen

3.  Fill in the Full Name, Username, Password, and Email fields; agree to the terms of service; then click the Create My Account Button

Using Twitter to update family and friends is an effective way to broadcast up to date information regarding your loved one’s health, share exciting progress, and ask for specific needs.

Since finding time to be on the computer was so difficult, Harry's son and daughter-in-law showed how to tweet from his phone by texting his tweets to the prescribed number.  Now tweeting is as easy is dialing a phone number for him.  To set up your mobile phone to text your tweets, follow these simple steps:

1. Log into your Twitter account
2. Click on "Settings" in upper right hand corner
3. Click on "Mobile" tab
4. Enter the cell phone number from which you'll be texting
5. Follow the directions to verify your number
6. Save your personally designated number in your phone as Twitter
7. Text your tweets right to your account through that number

What to Tweet?
Tweet about things you think family and friends would want to know such as visitors, short medical updates, prayer requests and your reaction to the situation.  Readers want to know how you are and your tweets reach more than just one person at a time.  Here are some examples of tweets Harry wrote during Gina's stay:
